20172017: the UK has voted for Brexit, Trump plans to build a wall along the border with Mexico, and the far-right AfD has a good chance of taking seats in the German Bundestag. Our world is shaped by the diversity of many different nations, but more and more people feel threatened by this very diversity.
That’s why EDEKA decided to send a message in favor of more diversity in 2017, an election year. For one whole day, they removed more than 20,800 products from around the world, and with ingredients from different countries, from their supermarket shelves. Instead, they only stocked German products. When faced with rows of empty shelves, customers see what less diversity really means.
